Hey there, guys!
Some of you already know, but for those of you who don't, I'm currently in the process of creating my very first children's book written and illustrated by myself! The book is called "The Adventures of Sunny Starling." I'm planning on making a series of these books, so the first one is entitled "The Crystal Apple."
It's based in this fantasy world full of "bird people" and whatnot. Each story is supposed to teach kids biblical principles. The Crystal Apple's theme is obeying your parents.
The reason why I chose a bird species as the cast is because of the Bible verse this series is based on. Matt 6:26 -
"Look at the birds, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, careless in the care of God. And you count far more to him than birds."
Here's the synopsis:
"When Sunny hears of a myth about a mysterious, hidden treasure, her adventurous instinct is to go and find it. Her friends tell her that there's nothing to worry about, but her mother says it's too dangerous and she can't go so she can be safe. Will Sunny disobey her mom and go after the treasure? What will happen if she does? Join Sunny Starling and her friends on an amazing adventure as she learns how to apply the Bible's teachings in her crazy world!"
I'm really excited about this project! I have the transcript finished, now I'm working on character designs and concept art. My plan is to get the book finished and printed by the end of the summer. Be on the lookout for a Kickstarter! That will be my method of financing the printing. I'll be posting more updates as they come. Let me know what you guys think! I would love to hear some feedback.

I've never been a big fan of the Old Testament but in the New Testament I think people should focus on how it teaches to accept everyone and be kind to others regardless of what or who they are
I mean, obeying your parents, I will say I've always wanted to do the opposite of what my mother wanted xD; Like, I wanted my own independent views and to learn things by myself
